Manitowoc County is again looking for a new county treasurer.
County Clerk Jennifer Backus tells Seehafernews.com that the person selected will fill the rest of the 2025-2029 term and is an elected position with mid-term appointments made by the County Board of Supervisors.
A county treasurer is responsible for managing the financial affairs of the county, including collecting and distributing funds, managing tax collections, and investing county money.
The next county treasurer will also maintain financial records, produce tax bills, and handle delinquent tax collection.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, be a US citizen, a qualified elector, and must be a Wisconsin resident for at least 28 days. Anyone interested is asked to submit a letter of interest and resume to County Board Chairman Tyler Martell by September 3rd.
He can be reached at tylermartell@manitowoccountywi.gov. After the retirement of Kathy Reissman, Jim Brey was appointed to the job earlier this year. He passed away last week.
