A suspect in a deadly crash in Brown County has gotten a large cash bail.
FOX11 reports that the district attorney’s office gave a $750,000 cash bail yesterday (August 18th) for 18-year-old Jigwemko Layton of Wisconsin Rapids, although formal charges have not been filed.
According to prosecutors, Layton was the passenger in a vehicle driving on Interstate 41 southbound and State Highway 172 in Ashwaubenon last Friday (August 15th) when he shot the driver, a 60-year-old from Wood County.
Layton was then seen on the interstate running away with the gun.
Multiple law enforcement agencies shut down a portion of the interstate and arrested the 18-year-old without incident in a ditch with the gun nearby.
They then found the man in the vehicle.
Layton will return to court next Tuesday, where formal charges are expected to be presented.
