A man from Kaukauna is in custody after leading authorities on numerous police pursuits over the weekend.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office received information stating that the Kaukauna Police Department had been in pursuit of a vehicle on Interstate 41 on Saturday (August 16th) at approximately 3:00 a.m.
The original speed violation that began the pursuit had the driver clocked going 70 MPH in a marked 25 MPH zone.
Kaukauna Police called off their pursuit after an attempt to stop the vehicle with stop sticks was unsuccessful.
Shortly after, a Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputy located the suspect vehicle traveling south on I-41 north of the Fond du Lac County line and began a second pursuit.
The driver again failed to yield to law enforcement, but the second pursuit was also called off.
Fond du Lac Deputies then spotted the fleeing vehicle near the county line, and the driver again increased speeds and began weaving in and out of both lanes, beginning the third police chase.
As deputies began making their way to the interstate, stop sticks were successfully deployed, and the driver was apprehended just south of County Road N.
The driver, a 35-year-old Kaukauna man, was booked in the county jail on charges of felony fleeing or eluding, reckless driving, and suspected OWI.
A breathalyzer was administered after his arrest, and his BAC was over .24, more than three times the legal limit.
