A major housing project on Manitowoc’s north side is getting ever closer to completion.
Mike Howe Builders has been developing 7 acres of land along Reed Avenue on the former Old Memorial Hospital site.
Howe made an appearance on WOMT’s Jim and Rick Show, where he gave an update on how the project is going, revealing that “We are 22 of 33 sold, so 11 (remaining) going into next year.”
However, the big news that Howe broke on the show was a new development project in the works.
“I did acquire 25 acres, and we are currently in the wetland delineation stage,” he explained. “We are trying to get through all the DNR and Army Corps of Engineering and Site Development to continue to move forward.”
Depending on how that conversation goes, Howe and his team will be developing between 45 and 75 lots for new homes in 2027.
He added, “This will be single-family homes with a few more floor plans that I will add to the mix.”
With the housing market being as it is, the price of those homes is difficult to judge at this time.
Howe noted that the homes currently being built near Lincoln Park were anticipated to be around $390,000, but now are valued at around $475,000.
Howe said he hopes to keep the second waves of homes around that same price point, but admitted, “It will be based on how much it costs to put the roads and infrastructure in.”
