The Sheboygan County Food Bank has been bolstered by a donation of tens of thousands of pounds of food.
The Food Bank has shared that the Church of Latter-day Saints showed their generosity last week by dropping off 28 pallets of food, which came in at 34,000 pounds.
Not only did the church give the donation, but volunteers welcomed the truckload of pallets to the Food bank and assisted in labelling and organizing them upon arrival.
This donation to the Sheboygan County Food Bank comes at a pivotal time, as they are experiencing more monthly family visits than at any other time since COVID.
They have been averaging roughly 90,000 pounds of food distributed per month, including an average of over 6,000 monthly visits, both numbers higher than averages from 2024.
With the donation from the Church of Latter-day Saints in mind, the Food Bank said, “This gift is especially appreciated right now. With these uncertain economic times and potential impact of changes to federal nutrition programs, more of our neighbors are turning to us for help.”
They also added that this and other donations help ensure that nutritious food reaches neighbors and families in need.
