An area group is in the final stretch of fundraising for a skate park in need of repairs.
The Manitowoc Skatepark Preservation Project has raised approximately $216,000 out of the $220,000 needed to replace the wooden ramps that are starting to rot and provide maintenance on the concrete ramps at Miracles Park, where the skatepark is located.
Kris Kouba, with the Friends of the Manitowoc Skate Park, explained on the WCUB Breakfast Club that the group had been fixing the wooden ramps before.
But now, “It’s just not going to be sustainable anymore in the next year or two.”
One place the Friends reached out to was the West Foundation and the City of Manitowoc.
“(The West Foundation is) bringing $100,000 to the project,” he explained. “The city is contributing $100,000 from the 2026 city budget. And then we have another $20,000 that we’re raising through the GoFundMe and other small donations.”
