A police pursuit that began in Monona with a reported theft ended with both an officer and a suspect injured Saturday evening.
Monona police responded around 8 p.m. to a theft in progress at a local retailer.
Using a description provided by the caller, officers located the suspect’s vehicle at a nearby gas station.
The suspect fled, leading officers on a chase into Cottage Grove.
The pursuit ended when the driver and passenger attempted to flee on foot.
Both were taken into custody.
The passenger sustained serious injuries and was taken to the emergency room.
An officer involved suffered a torn hamstring and is expected to recover.
