The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has released the student vaccination rates for the 2024-2025 school year.
In the five-page report, the department noted that 86.4% of all students across the state met the minimum vaccination requirements, which is a 2.8% decrease from the previous school year.
It is also down significantly from the 2004-2005 school year, when 93.7% of students met the minimum requirements.
State Health Officer Paula Tran voiced her concern, saying, “In public health, we know that 95% of people in a community need to be vaccinated against measles in order to prevent an outbreak, which is why it’s so important to get children the vaccines they need on time.”
