The City of Sheboygan Police Department is reminding residents of new regulations on where dogs are and are not allowed.
After the City’s Common Council passed ordinances to make Sheboygan more pet-friendly earlier this year, parks and public spaces where dogs are allowed to be on and off leash have been expanded.
These places where dogs are allowed on leashes include Evergreen Park, Jaycee Park to Mill Road along the Pigeon River corridor, Lakeview Park, and on South Beach between Indiana Avenue and Clara Avenue.
Additionally, they are permitted on leashes at the Greenwing Drive retention ponds, the Camelot Boulevard greenspace, and the Kiwanis Park Biergarten when festivals are not taking place.
Dogs will also be permitted to be off leash at Lakeview Park Beach, Pigeon River Park, and the Sheboygan and Town of Wilson Dog Park.
While the city has become more pet-friendly, the Sheboygan Police Department is also letting pet owners know that it is on them to keep parks clean and to responsibly clean up any waste they may make.
