Three are in custody, and a significant amount of contraband was seized following a police chase in Fond du Lac and Winnebago Counties.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was notified on Tuesday night (August 5th) by deputies with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office that a vehicle pursuit was occurring on I-41 near the county line.
Deputies in Fond du Lac mobilized, heading toward I-41, and discovered the suspect vehicle abandoned on the roadway near Lincoln Road.
Shortly later, two individuals who were determined to have been in the vehicle were found walking along the road and placed in custody, while a third occupant of the vehicle remained unaccounted for.
A perimeter was set up around the area where the third suspect was thought to be. Deputies from both Sheriff’s Offices, FDL Police Officers, K9 teams, and drone teams then located the third suspect, who was swiftly arrested.
Upon search of the vehicle, authorities uncovered 5 grams of cocaine, approximately 4.3 grams of crack cocaine packaged individually in nine half-gram bags for future sales, 12 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms, numerous THC vape pens, and handgun ammunition.
The suspects in custody range from 18 to 28 years of age, and all three face Fond du Lac and Winnebago County charges.
It is also suspected that a pink backpack containing additional drug items and a firearm was stashed by one of the individuals after exiting the vehicle.
At this time, the backpack and its contents remain unaccounted for.
