Several road projects in Manitowoc are nearing completion.
Mayor Justin Nickels stated on the WCUB Breakfast Club that construction on the western portion of Michigan Avenue near N. Rapids Road is complete; however, work is still ongoing on Fleetwood Drive, but it should be done soon.
“I think in a week or two, it should be opened up to both lanes of traffic on that boulevard,” the mayor revealed.
Another road project still to be done is asphalt paving on S. 9th Street, Conrad Court, and Zimmer Drive.
Reed Avenue is also scheduled to undergo some work between N. 8th Street and Hamann Road.
Nickels says the project will begin later this month.
The City of Manitowoc is already getting ready for next year.
Nickels says some major road projects will include “South 30th Street from Dewey to Viebahn.”
He also noted, “We’re looking at Michigan Avenue from 13th to the 18th (Street). And we’re looking at Viebahn Street from S. 10th to the lakeside, right there in front of UW-Green Bay Manitowoc campus.”
Nickels says major improvements and Red Arrow Park are also planned for 2026.
The city council approved a major five-year road plan as part of the 2025 city budget last year.
