An Appleton man has been convicted for a disturbance involving a firearm last year.
Court records show that 21-year-old Tyrese Tupac Shakir Simmons appeared in Outagamie County court yesterday (August 5th) for a plea hearing.
Prior to the hearing, Simmons was facing charges of Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Disorderly Conduct, and Felony Bail Jumping.
However, upon accepting a plea deal, the 21-year-old was convicted of the Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon charges due to a no contest plea.
As previously reported by SeehaferNews.com, police in Appleton were called to Erb Park on the evening of June 25th last year on a report of shots fired.
Arriving officers learned that no one was injured, and the subsequent investigation led authorities to Simmons.
Once located, he was found in possession of a firearm and taken into custody.
FOX11 reports that a criminal complaint explains that Simmons was with a group of juveniles when he pulled out a gun and fired it into the air three to four times.
He will now return to court on October 27th for a sentencing hearing.
