A project for the Lakeshore Humane Society seems to have hit a snag.
According to the shelter, discussions to lease property with the City of Manitowoc have reached an impasse, despite both parties working diligently to finalize a lease for a new building for the Humane Society.
However, extenuating circumstances have stopped the project from starting on land just north of the original shelter building on 8th Street, located near the dog park.
The Lakeshore Humane Society has been attempting to raise $3.8 million to construct a new shelter, as their current location is outdated and insufficient for the number of animals they receive.
So far, $2.5 million has been raised for the organization.
