Some of the last pieces for a war memorial in Manitowoc have been installed.
Friends of Red Arrow Member Ed Hansen tells SeehaferNews.com that a new bronze and red granite base was added to one of the memorial statues that have been placed to remember the Red Arrow 32nd Infantry Brigade.
Hansen says the pieces took some time to obtain, as red granite is no longer produced in the United States and had to be imported from Asia.
The statues are placed on either side of the “Morning Sun” monument on the west side of Red Arrow Park.
Hansen also explains that the family of Sergeant Aloysius Steeber helped by donating the bronze piece for the memorial.
Steeber served in World War II in the 32nd Red Arrow Division, fighting in New Guinea and the Philippines against Japan.
Hansen says there could be one more sign installed around the memorial, as well as more maintenance for the various memorials.
