There is plenty of optimism for the Green Bay Packers as they start week two of training camp.
Both sides of the ball made several great plays during practice on Thursday, even as the offensive line was being mixed and matched.
Jordan Morgan is showing the coaching staff and fans exactly why he was taken with the Packers’ first pick in the 2023 draft, as he took reps at guard and at left tackle, while Sean Rhyan, Jacob Monk, Elgton Jenkins, Zach Tom, and Rasheed Walker also rotated in and out of reps.
The defensive line was making their day difficult, with Rhyan calling them one of the toughest in the league to block.
“I think that’s why we have so much success, because our d-line is so good,” he explained. “It doesn’t get much better than guys you go against every single day because they know your weaknesses.”
The defense got the best of the offense during an end-of-practice two-minute drill, as a pass from Jordan Love to Tucker Kraft was broken up as time expired.
Fifth-year linebacker Isaiah McDuffie tells SeehaferNews.com that he loves seeing how fast the defense has been playing this year, noting, “A lot of guys are flying around, punching at the ball and playing confident.”
He reiterated a point Safety Evan Williams mentioned to us after Sunday’s practice, that being the entire defense, himself included, has been doing a phenomenal job soaking in D-Coordinator Jeff Hafley’s scheme in his second year at the helm.
“It’s year two, so building on what we did last year,” he explained. “Working the intricacies of the defense, hiding things better, and overall just be better.”
Personally, McDuffie says he has been able to learn more about what everyone’s role is in the defense, which has helped him grow as a player after a breakout season in 2024.
The team will be on Lambeau Field for the first time on Saturday for the ever-popular Family Day practice.
