A man accused of trying to kill a woman with an axe in Fond du Lac has appeared in court.
Court records show that 34-year-old Hayden Daffinson of Ripon was back in court yesterday (July 31st) as he faces charges of First-Degree Attempted Homicide, First-Degree Sexual Assault, two counts of Mayhem, First-Degree Reckless Injury, Aggravated Battery, Intimidating a Victim by the Use of Force, and False Imprisonment.
At yesterday’s appearance, Daffinson waived his right to a preliminary hearing and has been scheduled for arraignment.
The 34-year-old has been in custody on a $5 million cash bond since being arrested on June 22nd.
Police in Fond du Lac were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of East Merrill Avenue earlier in the day by an individual who was bleeding, claiming they were violently attacked with a hatchet.
The caller, a 38-year-old female, was found with numerous severe lacerations to her head, limbs, and back.
She was transported to a local medical facility to undergo lengthy surgeries which she would survive.
Daffinson, however, fled the scene prior to the arrival of the authorities, but an intensive investigation tracked him to Germantown, where he would be apprehended after a brief police pursuit.
Daffinson returns to court for his arraignment on September 19th.
