The organizers behind the upcoming Sheboygan Film Festival are touting legislation included in the 2025-2026 State Budget.
The recently passed biennial state budget includes an investment to establish a state film office as well as offer both film and TV production tax credits.
The State Film Office will be established as part of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, offering up to $5 million in film production and investment tax credits annually.
The creation of this office will not only encourage filmmakers in the state but also incentivize out-of-state filmmakers to come to Wisconsin to film movies and TV shows.
Katie Heil of Action! Wisconsin has said, “We are thrilled that the State Legislature and Governor recognized this enormous economic development opportunity that will attract additional private investment in the film and production sector.”
She also noted that such incentives that are now in place are the cornerstone considered by production and film companies.
Beah Travis, Chair of the Committee and Executive Director of Belladonna Film Project, the Sheboygan Film Festival’s organizers, thanked Heil and all the elected representatives who signed on to help the industry and Wisconsin’s economy.
The Sheboygan Film Festival will take place from October 2nd through the 5th at various locations throughout the city.
