A woman in Fond du Lac was hospitalized after being violently attacked with a knife.
The Fond du Lac Police Department was called Tuesday evening (July 29th) to an address on Forest Avenue after a caller claimed they had been attacked with a knife.
The caller, a 39-year-old female, told authorities that her attacker was a 43-year-old Fond du Lac man whom she knew.
Arriving officers found the woman with multiple, serious lacerations on both of her hands as well as further injuries to her chest, back, and upper legs.
She was found in the parking lot of the apartment complex where the attack occurred and subsequently transported to a local hospital to treat her injuries.
Fond du Lac’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams were brought in along with multiple K9 units, drone teams, and armored rescue vehicles to set up a perimeter, as it was assumed the suspect was still inside the apartment building.
However, upon entry, it was learned that he had fled the scene.
Following a multi-county search effort, the 43-year-old was taken into custody yesterday (July 30th) at approximately 3:15 a.m. after a high-risk traffic stop.
At this time, the investigation into the attack is in its preliminary stages and remains ongoing.
The Fond du Lac Police Department was assisted by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and Fond du Lac Fire Rescue.
