Born August 27, 1943, in Manitowoc, WI to John and Muriel (Otis) Prickett, Brad (81) passed away in his home on July 13 after a week of hospice care.
Brad was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, attended Manitowoc Teachers College and was in the Army Reserve.
Brad was a big personality who was adventurous, curious and never stopped searching for the perfect sandwich no matter how far the drive. Generous with his time, Brad was a community minded guy. After retiring from decades of sports officiating, he often did the commentary for the Lincoln High School basketball games on local radio. Most recently he continued helping at Lincoln High School, taking tickets and keeping score for many athletic events.
A gregarious man, Brad had many friends. He played dominoes with his wife, Kay and their friends, sheepshead with (as Brad called them) “The Lutherans” and enjoyed meeting people for breakfast, lunch and dinner every week.
Brad was an avid sports fan. Known throughout the community for officiating high school basketball and football games and tournaments, Brad knew everybody and everybody knew Brad. In his later years, he spent all the time Wisconsin weather would allow playing golf.
Brad enjoyed endless road trips with buddies. A common travel itinerary would include touring stadiums along with attending college football, pro football and baseball games all over the country.
Brad was the president of Van’s Athletic Club from 1985 to 2015, raising money for many area sports programs.
One of Brad’s passions was working local and regional Special Olympics events, where he officiated the annual tournaments. One of his most proud accomplishments was being selected to officiate the World Special Olympics in Dublin Ireland in 2003.
Brad was enshrined in the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
Brad is survived by his daughter Heather Stehr (Jeff), his son Tige Prickett, his stepdaughter Lorna Allen, his two granddaughters Hannah and Molly Prickett , his brother Scott (Jeanette) Prickett and many nieces and nephews.
Brad was preceded in death by his wife Kay Prickett, his sister Sharon Meany, his parents John and Muriel Prickett.
