A home’s garage in Sheboygan caught fire yesterday.
The call reporting the blaze was received by the Sheboygan County Communications Center at 5:30 p.m., and crews were dispatched to the 1700 block of South 13th Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke and fire coming from a detached garage located at the rear of the property along the alleyway.
The property owner had safely evacuated the garage, so the Sheboygan Fire Department quickly began suppressing the flames.
The fire was contained to the garage, and while no other structures were damaged, the garage and its contents were deemed a total loss.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was said to be accidental and caused an estimated $60,000 in damage.
The Sheboygan Fire Department is reminding everyone to stay safe when working with flammable tools and materials, including a torch, grinder, or any heat-producing equipment.
