Deputies at the Dane County Jail are increasing safety measures when handling inmate mail after a warning from Cook County, Illinois.
Officials there reported that some mail had been sprayed with purple Raid, a substance that can mimic the effects of drugs when ingested.
Dane County is also seeking approval for a new system that would digitize inmate mail.
The Public Protection & Judiciary Committee is set to review the proposal today.
