The man arrested while a child drove him around in Manitowoc is free on bond.
20-year-old Jesev O. Rocha-Lopez was given a $50 cash bond by Court Commissioner Patricia Koppa on a charge of Obstructing an Officer.
A Manitowoc police officer pulled over a vehicle in the 3200 block of Calumet Avenue at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, which was reported to be driving erratically.
The officer approached to find that a child under the legal driving age was in the driver’s seat, and Rocha-Lopez in the passenger seat.
Rocha-Lopez reportedly gave a false name and was arrested while the police report notes that the driver was cited for OWI, Deviating from a Designated Lane, and a Curfew Violation.
As a part of his bond, Rocha-Lopez was ordered not to operate a motor vehicle without a valid license.
He is due in court on August 14th for his initial appearance.
The child’s name and age were redacted from the police report, but the Manitowoc Police Department confirmed that they were under the age of 16.
