A family has been displaced after a fire in Green Bay.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was called yesterday (July 21st) just after 1:30 a.m. to the 1200 block of Stuart Street on reports of a structure fire.
Residents home at the time were able to evacuate the house prior to the arrival of fire crews, who witnessed heavy smoke coming from the roof and attic area of the structure.
Crews entered the building and found increased heat and an active fire inside the attic.
The flames were then knocked down while firefighters pulled ceilings and performed searches to check for any fire extensions.
While the flames were extinguished within 20 minutes of arrival, fire crews stayed on hand for over an hour to continue ventilation and air monitoring.
No injuries were reported to the family or fire personnel; however, the residents and their pets, who were also unharmed, have been displaced.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family after the fire that has been estimated to have caused $75,000 in damage.
At this time, the Green Bay Fire Marshal’s office has determined the cause of the fire to be electrical.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was assisted in its response by Wisconsin Public Service, the Green Bay Police Department, and Brown County Public Safety Communications.
