The Manitowoc County Democratic Party and Progressive Lakeshore People will join in another nationwide day of protest.
This time it’s for the National John Lewis Day of Action- “Good Trouble Lives On.”
The protest takes place tomorrow (July 17th) from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Shipbuilders Park in Manitowoc.
There will be faith leaders, community members, and activists making speeches against President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
According to Progressive Lakeshore People and Voces De La Frontera, immigrants have integrated into Manitowoc County, playing a vital role in the economy and helping to save the dairy industry from extinction.
The anti-Trump group also says, “These are our neighbors and friends who now live in fear.”
Both organizations want participants to gather and “demand an end to the attacks on freedom to vote, protest, and organize while rolling back on rights, and slashing vital programs.”
Progressive Lakeshore People have organized five other protests in Manitowoc County since Trump took office.
According to the Good Trouble Lives On website, the phrase was coined by Former Congressman John Lewis, who said, “Good Trouble is the action of coming together to take peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice and create meaningful change.
