A manufacturing company based in Sheboygan County has received significant grant funding to train its workers.
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development has awarded more than $2 million in Fast Forward Worker Training Grants to organizations across the state, including Masters Gallery Foods out of Plymouth.
Masters Gallery, one of the nation’s leading cheese suppliers, will receive $101,142, which will go towards training 25 unemployed and 70 current employees on new equipment and technology that produces packaged cheese slices.
Through this training, those 70 current employees may also be eligible for a wage increase of 89 cents per hour or more.
Regarding the value of the Fast Forward program, DWD Secretary Amy Pechacek said, “This strategic investment by Governor Evers is sustaining Wisconsin’s robust economy and strengthening our state’s workforce now and into the future.”
Since its inception in 2013, the program has provided more than $51 million in grant funding to support hundreds of training projects that have benefited more than 30,000 workers in Wisconsin.
