Both Manitowoc American Legion baseball squads took down De Pere yesterday (June 24th).
On De Pere’s home diamond, the 17u squad got a commanding 14-1 win while the 19u squad secured a narrow 3-2 victory.
In the 19u matchup, Landon Chalupny would get the win, pitching 4 and a third, allowing no runs, and fanning 4.
All three of Manitowoc’s runs came in the top of the third inning thanks to a 2-run triple off the bat of Cade Voelker and a 1-run single hit by Aaron Stephany.
The 17u’s dominant performance got off to a hot start as they scored 9 runs in the game’s first two innings.
De Pere would answer back by scoring their only run of the ball game in the 3rd before Manitowoc added 5 more insurance runs in the game’s 5th and final inning.
Nolan Lettenberger led the way for the offense, collecting 3 hits and RBIs, while pitcher McCormick Zutz went the distance on the mound to secure the victory.
Manitowoc’s 17u squad improved to 5-2 on the year with the win and will take on Kewaunee County on the road today at 7:00 p.m.
The 19u team now sits at 7-2 and will travel to play Bay Port at 7:30 this evening.
