The alleged shooter of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses has ties to Sheboygan County.
57-year-old Vance Boelter has been accused of impersonating a police officer to kill Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman, and non-fatally shoot Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette.
After Boelter’s arrest, details have emerged showing that the alleged shooter was once a Sheboygan County resident.
Land records show that the 57-year-old and his wife, Jenny, owned a home in
the Town of Sheboygan on County Road J.
His LinkedIn profile also shows that he was employed by Johnsonville Sausage in Sheboygan Falls as an Operations Leader from 2004 to 2008.
Other ties to Wisconsin for Boelter include receiving both his master’s and doctorate degrees at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.
Boelter’s alleged crimes appear to be a politically motivated attack with more planned based on notes found in his vehicle, which was left outside the Hoffman’s home.
He has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder, among other state and federal crimes.
