One of the largest companies in Sheboygan County and the global cheese market is investing in the Plymouth community.
Sargento has announced plans to build a new production facility in Plymouth, which will mark the largest investment in the company’s history.
Sargento recently acquired 66 acres of land on State Highway 57 and County Road PP, where this new facility will be constructed.
Sargento Chairman and CEO Louie Gentine said, “We’re excited for this new chapter for the Sargento Family. We look forward to continuing our track record of industry-leading innovation in our hometown.”
The company plans to initially relocate its manufacturing operations from its current 384,000 square feet facility to the new location, where construction is slated to begin in the spring of 2026, pending approval from the Plymouth City Council in July.
COO Michael Pellegrino said in the news release, “Few companies in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry innovate like Sargento, and we’re thrilled to continue our track record of success and partner with the city of Plymouth.”
While it’s not believed this move will create new jobs initially, the new state-of-the-art facility will allow for more space to grow in the future.
Construction at the new site is expected to be completed sometime in 2027.
