As part of a multijurisdictional effort, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office will be leading a death investigation in Washington County.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for a 62-year-old man from the Town of Trenton after he missed a court date related to felony charges on Tuesday (May 20th).
A felony arrest warrant was issued, and the man’s attorney expressed concern over the welfare of his client.
The 62-year-old was later located on Tuesday just before midnight, driving recklessly in the Town of Kewaskum.
A Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to pull him over, however, the man failed to stop for several miles.
Eventually, he pulled over in the Town of Barton, and deputies made numerous attempts to have the man exit the vehicle.
After those attempts failed, authorities approached the vehicle to find the man deceased and a firearm found near him.
The newly formed East Central Wisconsin Sheriff’s Investigative Team was called in to conduct the follow-up investigation, with the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office leading the investigation along with the Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Other members of this investigative team include the Fond du Lac, Ozaukee, and Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Offices.
