The City of Plymouth has formed a partnership to bring new affordable housing options to the community.
The City has announced its partnership with the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) to build 94 new single-family homes in Plymouth.
These new homes will form a subdivision off of Highland Avenue, south of Plymouth Furniture and St. Vincent de Paul.
This new development will also mark the third such subdivision built in Plymouth through the SCEDC’s Housing Initiative.
On the announcement, Plymouth Mayor Don Pohlman said, “These homes address a market need identified in our recent housing study and represent a signature economic development project that will drive continued community growth.”
The project will be funded by the Forward Fund, backed by $2 million of donations from prominent businesses in the Plymouth community including Johnsonville, Kohler Company, Masters Gallery Foods, and Sargento.
Additional funding will include $2 million in federal APRA funds from Sheboygan County and $2 million from the city’s own Housing Increment Fund.
Construction on the 94 new homes in Plymouth is scheduled to begin next year.
