An area baseball player was honored before Wednesday’s Manitowoc Lincoln versus Sheboygan South baseball game.
Instead of announcing the starting lineups for each team, a statement was read in honor of Ryan Stephen from Sheboygan South, who was diagnosed with cancer and has been unable to return to the diamond this year.
According to the announcement, Stephen has a passion for baseball like no other, having played his whole life, and is now learning to persevere in his new challenge of life.
Both teams played for Ryan and wished him nothing but the best with the challenges in front of him.
Players wore a band on their wrist as a reminder to live each day to the fullest.
The Ships ended up winning 13-3 over the Red Wings.
