It is Manitowoc Lincoln High School’s turn for prom.
With less than a week until the dance itself, Lincoln has been preparing for the special time of year.
With the theme for the May 3rd dance being “Enchanted”, there are also themes set for the students throughout the week.
Monday was PJ day, Tuesday was beach day, Wednesday featured class colors, Today is jersey day, and Friday will be all about Ships Pride.
Principal Micah Hoffman said prom is a high school rite of passage.
“It provides a cool opportunity for people to step outside their normal day-to-day when everyone’s wearing sweatshirts, shorts, hats, T-shirts and so on to dress up and put on the suits and the dresses,” he told SeehaferNews.com
While the location of the dance changed from the Venue to JFK Fieldhouse, Hoffman said he had two minds on it.
“I like the Venue. I thought the Venue was kinda tight and together as a teacher, adult administrator. Like it worked well because we knew everything going on, everyone was safe, plus it is kinda a cool spot,” he admitted. “However, when it comes to the JFK or any kind of gym, there is some tradition in that.”
Hoffman also said, “When you have a school that is 101 years old and a school district that’s even older than that, and the tradition that there…It’s special in and itself.”
The “Enchanted” evening will run from 7:30 until 11:30 p.m.
