A garage fire led to a dog’s death in Ashwaubenon.
The Ashwaubenon Department of Public Safety was called just after 3:45 pm yesterday in the 1200 block of Skylark Lane.
Arriving fire crews found an attached garage fully engulfed in flames, with the fire also spreading to the home next door.
Firefighters were able to get the fire in the garage extinguished, but with the fire spreading to the attic of the neighboring home, it took crews about an hour to put the fire out completely.
Crews also stayed on the scene for about two hours, checking for hot spots and additional fire spread.
No people were at the home where the garage caught fire, however a dog inside did not make it.
The neighboring homes’ residents made it out alive.
Both homes were significantly damaged, but the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety was assisted by six other fire departments, as well as County Rescue, the American Red Cross, and Wisconsin Public Service.
