The City of Sheboygan is set to hold an Arbor Day celebration this week.
Arbor Day, a day to celebrate trees, will be on Friday (April 25th) and the City is hosting a day of events at Jaycee Quarry Park from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
The celebration will include the Department of Public Works and a group of 5th grade students from the city planting trees around the park that will beautify the space and improve the disc golf course at the Quarry.
In addition to the Arbor Day celebration, this City will also celebrate its 47th year of receiving a Tree City USA designation and a 5th year of being designated a Tree City of the World.
Both designations for the city are recognized as the longest running for any municipality in the entire state.
The festivities will also feature Mayor Ryan Sorenson discussing the benefits of trees in Sheboygan and the longstanding dedication of maintaining a diverse urban forest.
City Forester Tim Bull will also speak at the event to discuss proper tree planting techniques.
Sheboygan’s Arbor Day celebration is free to attend and open to the public.
Those interested in attending can find more information on the event by visiting the Sheboygan DPW Facebook page.
