A Mishicot High School gym teacher is facing numerous sexual assault related charges.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office explained that 36-year-old Ryan Scott Schroeder of Francis Creek was arrested in connection to multiple alleged offenses involving students at the high school.
The sheriff’s office began investigating after getting multiple reports of alleged inappropriate behavior with students.
Evidence obtained during the investigation led to Schroeder’s arrest.
He will appear this afternoon (April 17th) at 12:45 for a bail hearing.
Charges against him include second-degree sexual assault of a child, repeated sexual assault of a child, sexual assault of a child by school staff, possession of child pornography, and child enticement.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig says that his department and the Mishicot Police Department have been working closely with the Mishicot Public School District throughout the investigation as the alleged conduct might have happened over an extended period.
The public’s assistance is being asked for by the department to identify any additional victims or witnesses who might want to come forward.
They are asked to call 920-683-4466 or use the Crimestoppers P3 Tips App.
County Detective Nate Steber can also be contacted directly at 920-683-6170.
A letter from Mishicot School District Superintendent Cory Erlandson says he is “deeply troubled by the allegations” and that the district is “fully cooperating with law enforcement officials as they conduct their investigation.”
He finishes the letter saying, “the safety and security of our students is our top priority. If you or your child needs extra support, pleas know that school counselors are available.”
