A Manitowoc man has been arrested after drunkenly assaulting his partner and a police officer.
Officers with the Manitowoc Police Department were called to the area of South 18th Street and Western Avenue on Tuesday (April 17th) at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The initial call reported that a physical assault was in progress inside a vehicle between an adult male and an adult female who was in need of medical attention due to her injuries.
The vehicle in question was located at the intersection of South 14th Street and Grand Avenue, and when contacted by police, the male suspect became aggressive and combative with the officer in the middle of the street.
Additional officers arrived on scene to find the suspect resisting arrest while injuring the police officer in the process.
The 50-year-old continued to disobey commands, prompting an officer to use his TASER to subdue him.
The TASER was successful, and the suspect was handcuffed, arrested, and transported to the Manitowoc County Jail.
The female victim and the injured officer required medical attention and were transported to area hospitals.
The victim would choose not to press charges; however, due to the altercation with police, the suspect has been charged with Resisting or Obstructing Causing a Soft Tissue Injury, Battery-Threats to a Law Enforcement Officer, Criminal Damage to Property, Disorderly Conduct, and five counts of Bail Jumping.
