If you love frogs, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources may need your help.
The DNR is seeking volunteers to participate in the Frog and Toad Survey across the state.
This annual survey aims to document the amphibians’ breeding calls in the spring and summer months. Launched in 1984, the statewide survey is the longest-running community-based frog calling survey in all of North America.
In addition to the traditional survey, volunteers can also participate in the Mink Frog Survey and the Phenology Survey as well.
The work done by volunteers and DNR conservation biologists helps better define the distribution, population trends, and status of all 12 frog and toad species in Wisconsin.
In the 40-plus years of the Wisconsin Frog and Toad Survey, volunteers have spent more than 10,000 nights across over 100,000 sites in Wisconsin.
