An impaired driver was arrested after leading authorities on a lengthy pursuit.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was advised that a vehicle pursuit was terminated by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Interstate 41 on Tuesday (March 18th) at approximately 4:00 p.m.
The pursuit was terminated near the Dodge and Washington County border and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was requested to stop the vehicle if it was located.
A Fond du Lac Sergeant located the vehicle quickly after, traveling south on State Highway 175 in the Township of Byron.
A traffic stop was initiated but the driver, a 31-year-old Menomonee Falls man, fled traveling into Dodge County.
Tire deflation devices were deployed, however, the driver observed them in the roadway and turned around before traveling north on 157.
The vehicle only continued north for a brief period before pulling over near County Highway AH in Dodge County.
He was subsequently arrested and has been charged with First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Felony Fleeing or Eluding, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, Operating While Intoxicated a third offense, and a probation hold for a previous Fleeing or Eluding charge.
No injuries were reported in the pursuit which spanned nine miles.
