
A home caught fire and exploded in De Pere over the weekend.
WFRV reports that De Pere Fire and Rescue was called to the 2000 block of Terry Lane on Saturday (March 1st) just before 1:45 pm for a duplex fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find the duplex with smoke coming from all sides and an occupant being helped down off the adjoined duplex.
Multiple windows were broken, with debris in the yard, which indicated signs of an explosion.
The fire was found in the basement, and fire personnel extinguished the flames from outside.
Some family pets were found unharmed outside and were returned to their rightful owners.
The Brown County Fire Investigation team is investigating the fire and explosion, which caused an estimated $550,000 in damage.
