The Manitowoc Public School District is holding three listening sessions about their upcoming referendum on the April ballot.
Last month, the district approved a referendum to ask the voters if they can borrow $25 million to address immediate critical facility maintenance, safety, security, and building infrastructure.
The listening session will be held virtually on March 5th, but in-person sessions will be held on March 12th at the Lincoln High Auditorium and on March 19th at the Wilson Middle School auditorium.
According to the district, the borrowing will not increase school taxes because district leaders will bring a plant to the Board of Education in March to identify savings in MPSD’s operation budget to offset the borrowing cost.
MPSD is also continuing to develop both short-and long-term solutions to improve its facilities needs.
Interim Superintendent Lee Thennes encourages all residents to attend any of the Community Information Sessions to learn more.
