Denver Santos
A student from Sheboygan South is doing her part to feed those in need.
Sheboygan South junior Denver Santos has been an active participant in the Food for Thought program with the Sheboygan County Food Bank, which is a voluntary service that provides help on weekends to students in the Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) and beyond.
Every week, Santos delivers multiple boxes of food to Farnsworth Middle School, Jackson Elementary School, and the Early Learning Center to provide students in the community with nutritious meals.
Santos, the subject of this week’s South High Student Spotlight, has said that this is her way of supporting her fellow students in the area and doing her part in bettering their education to ensure their success.
According to the Sheboygan County Food Bank, approximately 5,000 children in the county are living with hunger.
The Food for Thought program, along with the efforts of individuals such as Denver Santos, fills the gaps between federally funded school breakfast and lunch programs.
