A local student earned a top-three finish at last week’s SkillsUSA Regional Competition.
Karly Klein of Mishicot High School earned second place in the Welding Sculpture event held at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton.
Klein’s sculpture was of a cobra made out of pipe and washers.
She is also using her welding skills at Burger Boat as a part of the Youth Apprenticeship program.
Klein will now move on to the 52nd annual SkillsUSA Wisconsin State Leadership and Skills Conference in Madison on April 1st and 2nd.
In total, there were 23 competitions for students in middle and high school.
Eleven of the over 1,750 students came from Manitowoc County, including seven from Mishicot and four from Two Rivers.
