A Manitowoc County state representative is co-sponsoring a bill requiring state workers to return to the office.
3rd District Assemblyman Ron Tusler of Harrison explained that the Senate Committee of Licensing, Regulatory Reform, State and Federal Affairs held a public hearing about the bill to “get employees back to work to improve efficiency and fill the office buildings taxpayers pay for.”
Tusler says the state’s Legislative Audit Bureau found in 2023 that the highest percentage of workstations being used was only 34.5% while the Department of Instruction Office was at 5.3%.
If signed, the bill would take effect in July this year.
According to the Wisconsin Legislature website, the bill has only received fiscal estimates and has not made it out of committee.
Tusler finished claiming that the DPI has overseen the worst decline in reading scores and cannot be allowed to continue.
