The Wisconsin Supreme Court is reviewing a lawsuit filed by nurses at UW Health who are seeking to form a union.
This comes over ten years after Act 10 restricted collective bargaining rights for public employees.
The nurses contend that UW Health is obligated to recognize their union under private-sector labor laws, even though Act 10 removed references to the hospital from these statutes.
A favorable ruling could pave the way for unionization and potentially weaken the impact of Act 10.
At the same time, a larger legal challenge to Act 10 continues through the courts, with a recent ruling against the law temporarily on hold as the case moves through appeals.
