Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels has officially declared a snow emergency in the city.
The declaration will go into effect at 1:00 Thursday morning, and will remain in effect until 6:00 a.m. During that time, parking will not be allowed on city streets to allow plows to clear away the snow.
Dan Koski, the city’s Director of Public Infrastructure is reminding residents to “not assume that if your road has been plowed that you can park on the street. There is no parking between 1:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.”
He is also asking drivers to remain at least 75 feet behind plow trucks when they have their blades down and are plowing or when trucks are salting.
Another friendly reminder is the old adage, “If you can’t see the driver in the mirror, the driver cannot see you.”
Salt Route Maps are available on the City website, where you can also sign up to receive alerts for any future emergency activities.
