A Green Bay murder trial is now underway.
The trial of Gustavo Cantu began yesterday (February 10th) as he is facing a charge of being a Party to First-Degree Intentional Homicide.
Currently, Brown County court records show that 12 days have been allocated for the trial and FOX11 reports that yesterday’s opening day of court proceedings saw a jury selected.
Previously, Gustavo and his brother Alejandro were set to stand trial together, however, Alejandro was found guilty of a reduced felony murder charge after entering a no contest plea last Wednesday (February 5th).
Both Gustavo and Alejandro were charged in the shooting death of Randall Denny in Green Bay in April 2022.
A third suspect in the case, Jacob Ventura, is getting a separate case after offering a statement about the Cantus.
Denny’s murder at the intersection of Perkins and Western Avenues appeared to be tied to a drug deal.
Ventura will return to court on March 10th for a status conference, Alejandro is scheduled for his sentencing hearing on March 31st, and Gustavo’s jury trial will continue today (February 11th).
