A man previously convicted of killing his parents is attempting to withdraw his plea.
27-year-old Erik Metzig’s legal counsel filed a motion on Thursday (February 6th) to withdraw his two pleas of no contest to First-Degree Intentional Homicide of his parents, Jan and Dave Metzig.
The 27-year-old, who was found guilty due to those no-contest pleas, was still awaiting his sentencing.
FOX11 reports that the reason for the withdrawal of his pleas is that Metzig alleges he was the victim of repeated sexual assault from a young age and thus the reason he killed his parents.
This evidence was brought forth after he entered the no-contest pleas on August 26th, 2024.
His legal counsel’s argument states that this discovery of alleged, repeated sexual assault may sway a jury’s decision if he were to stand trial.
Metzig will be back in court today at 9:00 a.m. for a status hearing where these matters will be discussed further.
