Governor Tony Evers has proposed allocating $80 million to bolster Wisconsin’s agriculture sector in his forthcoming executive budget.
The governor’s office revealed some details of the spending plan in advance of its official release.
Among the key proposals are $1.5 million for a new dairy farm improvement initiative and more than $3.5 million to offset corn seed treatment costs.
The plan also calls for increased funding for farmer mental health resources and an expansion of the Wisconsin Farm Center.
The full budget proposal will be unveiled in less than two weeks.
