City of Manitowoc residents will be getting their properties reassessed.
The city hired Associated Appraisal Consultants to perform a Revaluation Assessment of property values for the entire community.
According to the city, state law requires each municipality to assess all major property classes with 10% of full value in the same year, at least once in five years.
If not, the US Department of Revenue would do the work and require more time and assets to complete the assessments.
The City of Manitowoc tells residents they don’t have to speak with the assessors or allow them onto or into properties.
Still, it’s usually the property owner’s advantage to ensure the most complete assessment.
Assessment notices will be sent to all property owners in September, even if your assessment doesn’t change.
Property owners can ask questions and appeal an assessment change at Open Book and Board of Review meetings later this year.
External property inspections begin on February 3rd, and property owners will receive a written notice from Associated Appraisal Consultants before they visit the properties.
