No injuries were reported in a Green Bay fire over the weekend.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was called to a senior living facility within the city on Saturday (January 25th) for a water flow alarm just before 9:00 p.m.
Arriving fire crews found one apartment’s sprinkler system had been activated.
Initial investigations show the system had activated to extinguish a small fire in a closet.
As the occupant of the unit was not home at the time of the fire, firefighters attributed the water flow system for preventing further damage to the apartment and the entire complex itself.
Further investigations have shown the cause of the fire to be careless use or disposal of smoking materials.
After the incident, the Green Bay Metro Police Department reminded residents to properly dispose of smoking materials and to never smoke around the storage or use of oxygen tanks.
